Mango is the most important fruit crop of Pakistan. It is also known as king of fruits owing to its distinctive sweetness, delicious quality, Juiciness, pulpy fiber and magical aroma of Mango rich in vitamins and minerals, available in 1595 verities around the World. The mango is largely consumed fresh, and is processed into juices and nectars, canned cheeks, segments or pieces with syrup added in the canning process. Frozen pulps of Mango are used for making dairy products like yogurts, ice cream and biscuit making. Dried or crystallised mangoes are seeing resurgent interest as part of appetisers or snacking assortments. It can also be found in jams, fruit pastes, chutneys and sauces. The waste (skin and stone) can be fermented to make biogas, and the oil extracted from the kernel is used in cosmetics.
